Temasek Foundation - ITE Education Services, (Multi-Discipline) Specialists Programme, Bangladesh

ITE Education Services welcomes 30 master trainers (pictured above) from the Directorate of Technical Education (Bangladesh) to Institute of Technical Education, Singapore. The 30 master trainers are here for a 3-week capability development programme, between 20 July to 6 August 2015, co-funded by Temasek Foundation, Singapore, and Directorate of Technical Education, Bangladesh.

Temasek Foundation - ITE Education Services, General Leaders / Specialist Programme, Philippines

ITE Education Services welcomes 27 industry coordinators from TESDA institutions, Philippines. These coordinators are here to attend a 3-week programme, between 8 - 26 June 2015. The aim of this training programme is to enhance the overall knowledge of TVET leaders in the management of industry collaborations by TESDA institutions.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Singapore - ITE Education Services, Leadership Development Programme for Principals and Leaders

ITE Education Services welcomes participants from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Malaysia, Maldives, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nepal, Philippines, Sri Lanka and Thailand for a 5-day leadership development programme, between 13 to 17 April 2015. This programme resides under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' "Singapore Cooperation Programme", where Singapore shares its developmental experience and public sector expertise with developing countries.


Role and importance of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) the focus, as education leaders and experts across Asia get together in Singapore to share experiences and challenges in TVET

  1. About 60 policy-makers and TVET experts from 16 countries across Asia will be in Singapore for the Temasek Foundation International@10 Asia Skills Leaders Forum. Jointly organised by ITE Education Services (ITEES) and Temasek Foundation International (TF Intl), the 4-Day Forum will be hosted at ITE Headquarters and College Central from 22 to 25 August 2017. 
  2. This forum is part of a series of themed-forums held throughout 2017 by TF Intl to commemorate ten years of partnerships in building capabilities in Asia and beyond. The partnerships focus on the areas of healthcare, education, public administration, urban management and disaster-response capability. (Refer to Annex A for the full list of forums).
  3. The forum gathers past TF Intl partners in TVET education programmes, as well as new partners to engage in discussion and share ideas on the transformation of TVET systems to support social and economic development in the participating countries (Bangladesh, Bhutan, Brunei, Cambodia, China, India, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Laos, Malaysia, Maldives, Myanmar, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Vietnam).
  4. TVET continues to play a significant role in shaping the economic and social development of Singapore, with more than 60 percent of students undergoing their post-secondary education in TVET.  As part of the forum, TVET academics from the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) and ITEES will be sharing experiences, best practices and challenges in Singapore’s TVET transformation and development, and will cover topics such as TVET planning, administration, industry partnerships, stakeholder management and image building.
  5. Former Cabinet Minister and former Chairman of Temasek Holdings, Mr S.Dhanabalan, will be joining the forum on the fourth day (25 Aug 2017) where he will participate in a dialogue session and engage with the participants on the relevancy of TVET in Social and Economic Development. As part of Singapore’s esteemed 2nd generation political leaders, Mr S. Dhanabalan, who has been heavily involved in many areas of public policies, administration and governance, will share on the thinking and beliefs of the Singapore Government on the important role TVET played in Singapore’s Economic and Social Development.  
  6. In addition to the sharing sessions, participants will also visit the various ITE Colleges and go on learning journeys to key industry partners, allowing them to gain insights into how TVET in Singapore is delivered through a practice-oriented and industry-relevant curriculum.
  7. Mr Bruce Poh, ITEES’ Chief Executive Officer, shared that “The social and economic environment of a country changes rapidly when there is quality skilled manpower produced. Technical education had played an integral part to the social and economic success of Singapore over the past decades. ITEES is glad to play a role in sharing, with participants from different countries, Singapore’s TVET experiences and transformation journey.”
  8. “In many communities, TVET forms a major component of the overall education system and helps to build a competent, relevant and vibrant workforce that is ready to meet the current and emerging needs of industry. TVET continues to be a high priority in communities across Asia and TF Intl has supported knowledge exchange and capability-building programmes in TVET for leaders and specialists at various levels, covering a spectrum of topics ranging from policies and systems, to leadership and management, to pedagogy and curriculum. This forum will bring together experts and professionals from the field to share their knowledge and experiences with each other. We hope the discussions and sharing sessions will spark fresh ideas and perspectives that participants can apply to the TVET systems in their respective home communities,” said Mr Benedict Cheong, Chief Executive, TF Intl.
